Review Policy
I try to review books within six weeks of receipt, unless they arrive unsolicited. I will then attempt to review them within 2-3 months, but they are given a lower priority than books I have agreed to review. Please note that I will give my honest opinion about all books I review, regardless of the source from which I acquire them. I will not be cruel for the sake of being cruel, but I may give your book a negative review if I feel it warrants it. If this is not acceptable to you, please do not even offer me your book.
As of March 15, 2010 I am accepting very few books for review, unless they are by current or past members of The Debutante Ball, were published by Amy Einhorn books, or I have previously expressed interest in reviewing them (i.e. told the author/publicist on Twitter that I would like to review them). Books accepted after March 15th are not guaranteed a review until June or July of 2010.
As a general rule, though, (i.e., once I do begin accepting books again) if you do not meet one of the following criteria, please do not pitch me your book:
- Publicists: you have worked with me before and are certain you have a book I will like.
- Authors: You write historical fiction. Please note that I will no longer be accepting novels set in Tudor England
- All: You can point to a specific book I have enjoyed and tell me how that makes it likely I will like your book.
Even if you meet the above criteria, I still reserve the right to decline the offer of the review book as I am trying not to take many between now and the end of the year.
If you think you have a book I would like to read, please email me at devourers.books@gmail.com
