I have been obsessed with books since I learned how to read, and later became a part of the book industry in 2008 when I founded the book blog Devourer of Books. In 2013 I was recruited for Fuse Literary (originally Foreword Literary) as a literary agent specializing in commercial fiction, historical fiction, literary fiction, and women’s fiction. Although I left Fuse in 2015 for family reasons, I am now accepting a limited number of queries and manuscripts for developmental editing from an agent’s point-of-view.
I will look at your query, 1-2 page synopsis, and the first two pages of your manuscript. I will look for strong openings and clear, intriguing descriptions of your work, making sure your inciting incident and main character are well fleshed-out. This is not a line-by-line edit, but in some cases grammatical or word choice suggestions will be made.
Accepted genres: any young adult or adult fiction genre
Manuscripts (partial or full)
I will critique your manuscript from the point of view of an agent or editor, assessing it for character and plot development, pacing, overall word and style choices, and repetitions. This is not a line-by-line edit, but in some cases specific grammatical or word choice suggestions will be made.
Accepted genres: All fiction genres for adults and young adults are accepted, but my specialties are commercial contemporary fiction, historical fiction, and women’s fiction. I may not be able to speak to specific genre conventions in romance, science fiction/fantasy, or thrillers so please consider that before booking me if you write in one of those genres.
