Thankfully Reading Weekend – Reading Community Mini-Challenge

Don’t know what Thankfully Reading Weekend is? Check out the introductory post over at Jenn’s Bookshelves and sign up to spend the weekend reading and being thankful.

I hope you’ve been having a great weekend reading so far. Have you been using the #thankfulreading hashtag on Twitter? Reading is a solitary activity, but it is something that is even better when you have a reading community surrounding you, which is part of the reason that many of us started blogging in the first place.

So what I want to know, is what reading community are you thankful for, and why? Are you thankful for book bloggers? The book community on Twitter? Your spouse or family that lets you ramble on and on about what you’re reading and doesn’t complain (at least not too much) about the myriad of books flowing into the house?

You can answer with a post on your own blog linked onto the Mr. Linky below, or leave your answer in the comments below.

One respondent with a US mailing address will also win this bag from Cafe Press: GIVEAWAY CLOSED

You can find millions of custom sweatshirt hoodies and funny t-shirts at CafePress – even personalized Christmas gifts!

Whether you link your answer or leave it in the comments, please let me know in the comments if you wish to be entered for the bag.

  • This is kind of a “duh” answer, but still true for me :) Great idea for expanding bookish networks!

  • Well, but of course I’m thankful for the blogger community. Before I began blogging I had no idea. And also there are my book clubs, and my BFF who I share audios with.

  • I am blessed to come from a reading family and to have married into a reading family and to have reading friends . . . but I know my reading life is fuller since I’ve joined the book blogging community and twitter.

  • I envy that Beth F. I posted my answer on my blog, but I will say I’m thankful to everyone in the book blogging community! I have had such an enjoyable time doing this!

  • Love that tote! And, it’s true. Some days, that’s all I do! Thanks for the mini-challenge and giveaway!

Book bloggers, absolutely. I’ve never done well with real-life book clubs, because I ended up reading so many books I had no interest in and rarely enjoyed, or found the group was more interested in the social part of the club and didn’t really care to finish/discuss the book at hand. Book bloggers are all about the books, with some personal/social thrown in. So it’s all good.

I am thankful for it all! Blogs, twitter, my family putting up with me…and I am library technician so I’m surrounded by books and love it all! I’m new to the blogs – thanks to BookPage or BookReporter – and love all the sharing and ideas I get. My TBR list is huge! And I guess I should add I am thankful for freedom of speech so we get to read who and what we choose : )

  • I am so thankful for the book blogging community! My family is not so much into reading so the bloggers are very important to me. My wish list would not be the same without my blgging buddies! Thank you for hosting a great challenge. I would love a chance to win that fabulous bag!

I am thankful for the book blogging community in general–I just started blogging about books and everyone has been friendly, esp. on Twitter! I’m also thankful for the new Literary Blog Hop, and also my fiance who puts up with my reading late at night while he has to get up early in the mornings.

  • I’m thankful for family and friends of course. But I started book blogging this year, and the book blogging community on Twitter is one of greatest perks of having the blog! I just love ALL of my Twitter friends…

  • I’m very thankful for the bookish blogging community! It totally expanded my reading horizons. {I also posted my link in Mr. Linky}
Cute bag too! Thanks for hosting and the chance to win :) I’ve very much enjoyed this weekend!

  • What a great tote! I would love to be entered in the drawing. :)

I too am thankful for the book blogging community. I am a former book blogger, but gave it up in 2008 in the midst of grad school stress. I think about returning to it from time to time, but regardless whether I have my own online book blog or not, I enjoy reading other blogs and discovering new favorites. My “Books” folder in Google Reader is always the first that I click on to read new posts, so many of the books I read blog reviews of end up on my to-read list, and I love participating in events like this one, where the whole community of readers comes together to celebrate our favorite pastime.

I am also thankful for the site It gives me a great way to organize all my reading since I don’t have a blog – it is especially useful in creating an ongoing, comprehensive list of all the books I want to read. I also use Goodreads to keep in contact with bookish friends far away.

  • I linked the post I wrote on my blog. I’d love to be entered for a chance to win the bag!

  • Please enter me in the giveaway for the tote bag!

  • Pam

Man, I REALLY need to get back on Twitter! I think ‘m missing out. Oh, and please enter me!
