TSS: This, That, and the Other (and Christmas pictures of Daniel!)

Oh, my friends, I feel as if I’ve been away from you for so long!  I’ve been partially, but not completely unplugged.  I actually have talked to some of you on Twitter, have commented on some of your blogs, and have even posted some reviews here, and yet I still feel like I haven’t ‘talked’ to you for a long time.

I don’t have nearly as many pictures to share with you as I would like, I need to get the pictures that my mom and mother-in-law took, because I, sadly, hardly took any pictures at all.  Daniel had a great Christmas, though he got a little worn out and overwhelmed by all the running around from place to place we were doing from the Wednesday before Christmas to the Sunday after.  We’ve tried to keep this week quieter to get him back on track.  Here are a few lower quality pictures of his holiday:

And yay, I surpassed my goal for 200 books in 2009, I actually read 214!  So far I’ve read two FANTASTIC books in 2010:

My review of “The Dolphin People” will be up on Wednesday, I my review of “Alice I have Been” will likely be going up Wednesday the 13th.

And have you heard yet about the Classic Reads Book Club? The idea is that bloggers come together and read one classic per quarter.  We’re starting with East of Eden, which is my favorite book of all time.  Discussion of the first section, chapters 1-11, will begin on January 25th.

I’ve been somewhat unplugged too and I don’t have a Daniel to celebrate the holidays with! He is soooo cute! It’s nice to focus on family and other things this time of year, too. I am sure it was great fun watching Daniel try to open gifts and play with new toys. But I can see how children can get overwhelmed by all the activity and “chaos”! I love the photos you posted of Daniel in his Santa suit. He looks adorable!

Fantastic job on reading 200+ books, that’s awesome! I’m looking forward to your upcoming reviews!
The Classic Reads Book Club sounds great & I have never read East of Eden but have always meant to. I’m going to try to join you. Thank you for posting about it!

Happy New Year, Jen, to you and your family!

  • What a cute little Santa you have there!

  • Oh my goodness, he’s adorable!

  • OMG! He is so stinkin’ cute!

  • That picture of Daniel with the little Santa hat on is just too precious! My daughter was about his age at her first Christmas, and it was great fun, but I remember she became a bit overloaded after about the fiftieth gift. Keep those pictures coming – I love it!

  • Oh my goodness! He is such an absolute doll baby! I especially love the one in the santa hat and suit :-) It just doesn’t seem like it was that long ago when his announcement was posted!

  • I think my grandson’s a cutie but Daniel may be his rival in that category!

  • It looks like you had a great holiday! I LOVE the picture of Daniel in the Santa suit looking into the camera – he’s such a doll!

  • Oh! He is so cute! He has gotten so big so fast! :) I hope he (and you & family) had the best Christmas!

  • I love the picture of Daniel in his Santa suit. So darling!

I haven’t had the chance to take a breath and look back at 2009. I read somewhere in the area of 95 books, which is the most I’ve ever read in one year to my knowledge. I’m hoping to do a wrap up post next week if I can.

I bought a copy of East of Eden with my Christmas money, so I’m ready to get started. I’m so looking forward to it!

Daniel is adorableee! As for the reading selections, I’ve been seeing Alice I Have Been everywhere in the bloggosphere lately (and on Twitter as well!) and it is definitely on my list. I can’t wait to hear your review.

  • Aww, everybody needs a picture of themselves as a baby in a Santa hat! I finished Alice Have I Been in 2009 (barely), but it was good, wasn’t it? And man, 214 books *and* a baby? I’m impressed! I only managed 155, and I don’t even have a dog, let alone a kid. 😀

    • Lol, I got stubborn after he was born, especially after I went back to work and became determined to find time to read, even if a clean house and timely reviews suffered in the process. I still have 20 or so unwritten reviews, some going back to October!

  • That Santa hat is too cute for words!

I know exactly what you mean about feeling disconnected even though you’ve been connected. I think being out of our normal routines has us all a bit off. Here is to hoping things bounce back quickly starting in the next week or so.

Look at that little doll!! He is such a happy kid!

  • Great job on 214 books! Daniel is just absolutely darling. Happy New Year.

  • You had an amazing reading year!
    As always, Daniel looks adorable!

  • Look at Darling Daniel. He is so adorable. I feel like I know him from our Tuesday night chats.

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed The Dolphin People. I have it on my shelf too.

  • What a gorgeous boy he is!!! I can’t believe how big Daniel has gotten already! So glad you had a nice Christmas. Next year will really be fun! I think we all need quiet time now.

Congrats on surpassing your reading goal! It sounds like you’re already off to a great start for 2010. I was in a slump for the whole month of December so I need to get organized now and get back on track. I hope you have a wonderful New Year and I can’t wait to see even more photos of your handsome little man!

  • Daniel is just the cutest — but he’s growing sooooo fast! Love the Santa suit and all the holiday clothing.

Santa wouldn’t be so scary to some people (large man with beard and weird outfit coming into your home at night on his whim) if he looked like Daniel!

  • How do you find so much time to read with a baby in the house?!

  • Once again, just amazed as your booklist. I can’t believe you’ve gotten that many done!

And Daniel is the cutest Santa in the history of Santa Clauses.
