As you hopefully are already aware, Elizabeth Kostova, author of “The Historian” has a new book out called “The Swan Thieves.” I read and reviewed “The Swan Thieves” back in September. “The Swan Thieves” is a completely different sort of story than “The Historian,” but I could have told you I was reading a book by Elizabeth Kostova because of her gorgeous writing and the way she structured her story.
The official release date of “The Swan Thieves” is tomorrow, Tuesday, January 12th, but I have a giveaway for you today! Miriam at Hachette has offered copies of “The Swan Thieves” to FIVE first place winners. Oh, but that’s not all, because ONE lucky GRAND prize winner, will not only get a copy of “The Swan Thieves,” they will ALSO get a copy of Kostova’s debut book, “The Historian.” It is like, prize central here!

I almost didn’t enter because I want to go buy the book tomorrow when it is released. Then I convinced myself it would be better to wait because I have a few books I need to finish before I allow The Swan Thieves into my house where it will dominate my time.

Oddly, I started The Historian while I was pregnant with my daughter and on bedrest in the hospital. Bedrest didn’t work as it should have, and I ended up going into labour prematurely, and The Historian – which I was about 100 pages into – never got finished. 3 1/2 years later, perhaps it’s time to revisit it?

I just heard about Elizabeth Kostova’s new book, “The Swan Thieves” today, and since I am an artist myself: a landscape plein air painter and I LOVE ART HISTORY, I am very intrigued by it! I would love to be picked to receive a copy of her book! Though I haven’t felt drawn into the “Dracula Frenzy” of late, after checking out Kostova’s first novel reviews online, I’m more interested than I’d have imagined in her first novel: “The Historian”! Her writing style (I read the piece on the site here) has already hooked me…she is very visual and descriptive, which immediately transported me right into the storyline! I think I will certainly become a fan!
