I thought this book was only okay. To me Valerie seemed way to much self concerned, I felt that she had a right to feel that way toward her dad (he seemed really unrealistic) but not toward the shooting. She seemed to constantly forget that everyone else went though the same thing too. What about her friends like “Duce” who also saw their friend commit suicide? This book did get better toward the end where Valerie relizes (finaly) that this isnt all about her and helps to creat a memorial toward the victems of may 2nd.

The author’s description is not that graphic. Her approach to the subject matter is mild enough for teens and sensitive adults.

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this book. I’m not sure it’s for me — very tough subject matter.

I’ve been hearing about this book a lot lately! And am definitely interested to read this. I agree, it sounds to me like a very intense read.

I agree with you that adults could read and enjoy this one. I think when they release it in PB that it should have a discussion guide in the back…maybe that would spark some great talking between teachers/counselors/parents/and students!!
