Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva and Marg that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library.
I have 19 things out from the library right now and only 2 are ready to be returned, so that isn’t so great. Hopefully I can make a little more of a dent as I try madly to read as many library and review books as possible before October 1 and the beginning of the Clear Off Your Shelves Challenge. Here’s what I’ve taken out since last week and why:
The Ghost Writer by John Harwood. Swapna raved about this when I was asking for mystery recommendations a couple of weeks ago. My book club didn’t pick it, but I decided to grab it for a nice October read.
The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker (audio). This was the last book of the 2009 Debs that I needed to pick up. I’m actually nearly 1/2 way through it already, but it isn’t actually my last 2009 Deb read, I still have “Real Life and Liars” by Kristina Riggle sitting on my shelf, begging to be read. I can’t get waited to start on the 2010 Debs in my 2010 Debutante Ball Reading Challenge.
North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley. I checked this out a really long time ago and had to return it unread, but it is one of the October books for Literary League: Read ‘Til YA Drop so I’m hoping to sneak it in soon.
The Invisible Mountain by Carolina De Robertis. De Robertis guest blogged a few weeks ago at The Debutante Ball and the book sounded so interesting I had to put it on my list.

I bought North of Beautiful after Swapna reviewed and haven’t read it yet. Maybe Read ‘Til YA Drop will spur me on too.
I’ll be anxious to hear what you think of North of Beautiful. It didn’t quite do it for me.
Oh, I loved Ghost Writer. I read it before I started blogging, so of course I can’t remember details, but I was entranced I do remember. 19 books? Lordy. I get alot of audios from the library at once, but load them up and send them back on their way. I just got The Seance from Harwood from the library, and will be my next read after Rebecca!
You got some great library books this week. The Little Giant of Aberdeen County and Ghost Writer are favs of mine. I own Invisible Mountain, but have not read it yet.

LOVED “Little Giant of Aberdeen County”! Definitely one of my favorites of this year. Glad to see that someone else has 19 books out from the library … I have even more than that, if you can believe it.
I enjoyed The Ghost Writer when I read it for R.I.P. back in 07! And I’m on my library’s hold list for North and Beautiful.

North Of Beautiful is easily one of the best books I’ve read in… forever! I finished it last week or two ago and I’m still thinking about it. I don’t see that changing any time soon! Enjoy it! I didn’t know it’s up for discussion at the Literary League… I’ll have to jump in next month!

Wow 19 books out at once? That’s so many! I don’t think my library allows more than four out at once for one person.
I really liked The Ghost Writer! I read it just recently, and it’s every bit as good as Swapna said it was.

I am waiting for North of Beautiful to be ready for me at the library. They just recently bought it, so I have a bit of a wait, but it looks good!
Don’t feel bad, I think I have more than 20 out at the moment. Sigh. Never enough time for books…
I’ll be interested to hear what you thought of The Ghost Writer if you do get around to it. I didn’t care for it myself, and I was disappointed because I’d heard so many people rave about it. The plot just didn’t do it for me. It reminded me too much of a tired campfire ghost story.
