Library Loot – September 10, 2009

library-loot

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva and Marg that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library.

This week I took out a lot of media.  I borrowed books four and five of Harry Potter on audio, as well as a dvd of season 2 of the television show Psych, which is one of my favorites. Now for the books:

“The Ballad of Trenchmouth Taggart” is being borrowed for the second time, I previously had to return is unread because someone else had it on hold.  I’m excited to read it because it is by a local author (he teaches at the community college in our city).

I got “Bad Mother” for a challenge Amy is doing based on someone’s list of the 50 books that are important for our society (maybe?  something like that at least…).  I have no idea where I have the link for that challenge, but I’m supposed to read and review this book for it.  Maybe someone has the link?

“Temptation of the Night Jasmine” is the next book in Lauren Willig’s series.  I’ve enjoyed the books, but they’re sooo fluffy that I just couldn’t justify buying another one, even though I have the rest of them somewhere.

I requested Michelle Moran’s “Nefertiti” because I ADORED “The Heretic Queen” and I wanted to read her other adult book before reading her new young adult book, “Cleopatra’s Daughter”.

Have you read any of these?  Have you gotten anything great from the library lately?

  • I’ve been meaning to read Nefertiti. I have Cleopatra’s Daughter on its way to me, and that will be my first book by Michelle Moran. May have to look into getting a copy of The Heretic Queen too!

  • Nefertiti is still my favorite of Michelle Moran’s works! I hope you love it.

I got all of the Pink Carnation books as bargain books, and that last one for $1. I don’t think I could justify paying full price for them either but they certainly are fun. I’m interested to hear what you think – this one was a little too sweet at times but still nice overall.

Psych is so much fun! :) Love the cover on The Ballad, etc. And I really need to read Michelle Moran one of these days!

  • I’ve read the Pink Carnation series, borrowed all of them and this one was my least favorite of the group, but I will read the next one.

  • I had the Nefertiti audio in my hands at a recent library visit and set it back down again when I spotted something else. I don’t know why I did that…it doesn’t hurt to load the things on the iPod and save it for later. I’ll be interested to see how you like it. I may have to go back and get it!

  • I would have to hide the cover of The Ballad of Trenchmouth Taggart to be able to read it.

  • I have not read any of these but have been wanting to get my hands on Nefrititi. Enjoy!

  • Yikes! I’d better get started on my 50 books challenge book.

I really need to get Nefertiti…

  • Those all look pretty good. I just got on the Moran bandwagon!!

  • Lisa

Looking forward to hearing what you think of “Bad Mother.”

  • I read Nefertiti and really, really liked it.

  • I have Nefertiti and The Heretic Queen on my TBR list. I read Cleopatra’s Daughter last week and really liked it. I didn’t think it had a “young” adult feel to it – unless you count the fact that it has a glossary (haven’t read a book with one of those in a long time!). Michelle Moran is one of my new favorite authors!

  • I am just reading Cleopatra’s Daughter now and really enjoying it, as I have with all of her books!

I do enjoy the Pink Carnation books, although I do prefer the earlier books in the series.
.-= Marg´s last blog ..Giveaway excitement – Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins =-.

  • I have read Nefertiti and I am very sure you will like it too! It was awesome and I am right now reading Cleopatra’s Daughter.. and that one is also good. The Heretic Queen is the only one I need to read now :)
