fragile eternity picture Fragile Eternity by Melissa Marr

In “Fragile Eternity,” we are back to concentrating on the story of Aislinn, Keenan, and Seth.  Althought Aislinn still loves Seth, she feels inexplicably drawn Keenan during the height of summer and he begins pressuring her to become more than just friends, on the basis that it would stregthen their court.  We actually get to see more of the story from Seth’s perspective, which was quite exciting.

Although I’m not usually big on love triangles (or quadrangles, as the case may be, when you add Donia into the mix), Marr does it really well.  Seth wanted to do what was best for Aislinn and their relationship, Donia wanted to maintain her dignity, Keenan was trying to do what was necessary to strengthen his court, and Aislinn was conflicted by her new feelings as she transitioned into her role as Summer Queen.  I also liked that we got to see more of the different fairy courts.

Very well written, I think I prefer the books that focus more on Aislinn, Seth, and the Summer Court, so this one was right up my alley, as opposed to Ink Exchange.  I can’t wait for the rest of the series!

  1. I struggled more with this one – the love quadrangle was believable but it was too agonizing too much of the time. I had a hard time picking it back up because I couldn’t see how anyone was going to be happy ever again! I guess that’s part of her talent, though, that I could feel the emotions so well.

  2. I know! I wish she’d write them fast!

  3. Beth Fish just raved about Wicked Lovely on audio, and I’ve yet to listen to it.

  4. I am in the middle of this at the moment, so I’ll have to stop back in a few days once I’ve finished it and have more to say. Do you know how many books there are planned to be in the series?

  5. I got this one at BEA and have come to realize that I need to read the others in the series first.

  6. I really really need to read this! I broke a no-buying ban to buy it when it came out and still haven’t found time to read it!

  7. I really have to get to the second one so I can read this. I wish I had more time.

  8. I’ve heard there will be 5 but the next one isn’t about the core group…sorry!

Do you not love Seth? :)

  9. I just finished Ink Exchange this weekend (and reviewed it today), so I’m glad to find this review of the next one, since it sounds like Marr continues the theme of complications… I love your phrase “a love quadrangle.”
