I didn't really like or relate to any of the characters, but they were all developed so well. I loved the dysfunction of the family and how they each coped (or not coped) after the tragedy! I'm sorry to say I was in the camp who greatly disliked these characters -- in fact, honestly, I hated them. I still had to finish the book to see if there was any resolution here, but it was a little painful for me to get to that point! I do agree that the ending was perfect, though, and it gave me a clear sense of relief that maybe things were finally -- <i>finally</i> -- going to move forward. Still, I couldn't shake the feeling that the Aschers were beyond redemption.
