Loved this book. Loved it. Loved the ending (Hollywood would have a field day with that one.) and loved the characters. I enjoy the dystopian future theme in books and hence also loved "Never Let Me Go" as well. It was a different take on the same idea but equally as powerful.

I like reading about dystopian futures. This is creepy though! The fact that this might actually happen in the future, questions of ethics, and how they choose whether someone contributes to society, basically controlling their lives.. Wow.

I'm glad that you and other people really liked this novel. I'm reading it in July and thought it might be something good to read in conjunction with out nation's birth month.

I really liked it too. I also liked how Dorrit couldn't even really remember how it all came to pass in legislation. A good reminder to pay attention to what our government is doing!

I love dystopian fiction, so I'm definitely adding this one to my to-read list. Great review!

Yikes! I'm still working and I'm in a loving committed relationship, otherwise, I'm old enough for The Unit. Sounds good though.

It just came out in translation in the US, but it was published in 2006 in Sweden, so it was probably being written somewhat concurrently with "Never Let Me Go." I haven't read Ishigaro's work, but it seems like the main similarity is the organ donations, the hows (clones v. older people) sound fairly different. I'd have to read "Never Let Me Go" to know for sure, though.

Oh dear - when did this book come out? It sounds a LOT like a reworking of Never Let Me Go, by Kazuo Ishigaro (which was a FABULOUS book).

Not really my type of book, but it does sound interesting. The cover seems to fit the book very well.

I'm looking forward to reading this one, even though I'm at the magical age of 50.
