I just finished this about 30 minutes ago. I've not read Shadow of the Wind yet, but I found the book to seem long in parts. His writing is fluid, so I wouldn't use the word slow, but isn't long and slow six of one and a half dozen of the other? I have Angel’s Game on my ARC-alanche pile, but haven’t gotten to it yet. I think I might have a system for getting through them all… LOL… The pile is now mocking me for saying that, btw.
