Wow. How frustrating. I'm so bad with languages, even the romance languages, that I can't imagine getting proficient enough in Holo to carry on the type of conversation you crave. Despite that, how wonderful that you have such a diverse and international family.

It sounds like a very emotionally frustrating time for the author.

I have a great deal of understanding for what Mei-Ling is saying. My ex-husband was adopted, and his birthmother adopted a son 20 years after giving him and his brother away. I don't know if that sticks a little for Mei-Ling, but I know it was always a sore spot for my ex.

And I both love and respect, as well as find it frustrating and ifuriating at times, the Asian culture of family. The importance of Face, as well as their lesser value of truth than we have in the West, makes it hard to ever get inside. After more than 10 years, I can still feel like an outsider at times.

Thank you Jen :-) I really enjoyed this post. And thanks to Mei-Ling for sharing with us.
