I feel like I've read some historical fiction that I would count as "fluffy" that was still engaging... and that does a better job with character development and smooth pacing than this one did.

Hmm...I have this one on my shelf. I may leave it there for awhile longer, until I'm in the mood for some very light historical fiction!

I've never read Gregory but I do like Roberts, however, I have a mountain of books that I feel I can't wait on reading them. I trust your review and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything if I don't read this!

I love historical fiction, but I want the history part more than the fluff. I think I'll pass on this. I too am iffy on Gregory.

I have avoided some historical fiction just because I was afraid it was "fluffy," as you so aptly described it.

I'm not a PG fan, either, truth to be told, and I think you're right on the kind of HF category this falls into. But I did fairly enjoy it, maybe because I read it on the heels of something awful.

I did like the appearance of Wallis Simpson!
