Interesting variety - Jhumpa Lahiri is one of my favorite contemporary authors. I especially like her short stories.

I haven't updated my authors since I first joined. Steinbeck is on my list. I'll have to work on mine and then check to see how many of my friends share authors.

Meghan, I'd suggest reading To a God Unknown by Steinbeck. It's absolutely fabulous.

I should have Steinbeck and Lahiri on my list too (and Dr. Seuss!). I don't have anyone listed yet, actually; must get to work on personalizing my LT profile page!

I love Jhumpa Lahiri, (and isn't she beautiful) but I've only read Interpreter of Maladies! I feel like I need to read at least one more of hers before I add her to my favorites.

Since all this Steinbeck love is floating around, I'm going to have to read more of his books. I read The Grapes of Wrath in high school and I don't think I got it as much as I would now.

East of Eden is one of my a-HA books. I read it at the perfect moment in my life, and it's stuck with me ever since.

I stuck to modern authors - my list would be a lot longer if I went back to the classics.

I love Steinbeck. I went through a phase of borrowing Steinbeck books from my school library when I started at secondary school (that's 13 if you're not a UK-ite) and he just transported me away. I remember getting right-royally told off for reading East of Eden inside my French text book at the back of French class ... ah, happy memories!
