I've discovered that I prefer short stories like this because so often I am disappointed by ones that are more plot driven. They always seem so incomplete to me--which is funny because you'd think I would find character driven stories that seem more like character studies to be that way. For some reason though, I don't. I think part of my problem is that I expect short stories to be too much like regular length novels, and so I often end up feeling unsatisfied at the end. As a result, my appreciation for a short story is different than it is for a full length novel. I don't know if that makes sense at all. I'm still trying to figure it out myself. :-)

Anyhow, that has nothing to do with you really, and I don't know why I'm telling you all this. :-)

I appreciate your thoughts on this collection and agree with you--it's definitely character focused.
