I also really hate the extra information that Amazon includes. It’s bad enough that I have a movie tie-in edition, I certainly don’t want it saying that in parenthesis next to the title!

Yes, I try to go through and take out all the extra information Amazon includes with the book title. Not sure why they do that, but it can be very annoying. I’m with Marie, though – if the database exists and it’s easy to use, I say use it!

I agree with the others–there’s no need to beat ourselves up for using the simplest option when that one works so well. I would imagine that those LTers who are more familiar with the other sources are like me–they have lots of old books or foreign language books.

Honestly I never even considered using something other than Amazon, I’ll have to check out LoC.

You do have a good point. I would agree with you if I used Amazon because I actually prefer it. I don’t care much either way, although I would LIKE to use LOC, but I can’t be bothered enough to go in and change it, so it probably is laziness.

I don’t think using Amazon is laziness- and it seems like a lot of people are using this question as an opportunity to berate themselves, but what’s wrong with using a good solid source that gives you the info you need?
