Lace Reader and Last Queen Released!

Two books that I really, really enjoyed are being released today.

First off, “The Lace Reader.” “The Lace Reader” is the story of Towner Whitney, born Sophya Whitney. When her step-grandmother, Eva, goes missing, Towner is forced to return home to Salem, Massachusetts and face her past.

Secondly, “The Last Queen.” The story of Juana of Castile is a very dramatic and tragic one: Juana is married against her will to the heir of the Hapsburg empire. She loves him dearly at the beginning of their marriage, but as political circumstances between her husband and her parents deteriorate, so does their relationship. Her husband is an ambitious man and is determined to be named heir to her parents’ Spanish empire.

  • I really want to read The Lace Reader. I didn’t get lucky with that one on LT ER. This one’s on my wish list for sure!

  • Okay, if you only could buy one of those books, which one would you choose?

  • Oooh, that is a REALLY difficult question. They were both spectacular reads. However, because of your love of historical fiction, for you I would say The Last Queen. How can you NOT want to find out what happened to Katherine of Aragon’s older sister?

  • I have a little Amazon money, but only enough to buy one. I’m going to follow your suggestion. I bet that it will be right up my alley. :)

When I walked into work this morning, the first thing I did was check for The Lace Reader and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I loved them both, and it made me so happy to see them, in their beautiful hardback forms, sitting there on the shelves. Now I can begin harassing people to read them!

  • Both of these are on my wishlist!!
