June Reading Wrap-Up

I managed to read 21 books this month! This was primarily due to the read-athon as well as my commitment to read a few very short books in order to have more reviews for some of the time I was gone.

Here’s why I read these books: one was for ReaderViews, three were sent to me from Literary Ventures Fund, two were parts of blog tours (or something similar), one for the Barnes and Nobles First Look Book Club, one was my LibraryThing Early Reviewer book, and four others were otherwise sent to me for review. The other nine I read simply because I wished to do so.

Note: The titles link to my reviews. Many of these books do not have reviews up yet, as I am saving some of them for these weeks up until my wedding, as well as for my honeymoon, so that you all have something to read.

Top Pick of the Month

My Father’s Paradise by Ariel Sabar

“My Father’s Paradise” is an attempt by one man to understand the life his father has led. Ariel knows his father as a tragically un-cool linguistics professor who is completely out of touch with culture. He comes to discover the amazing journey his father has taken as a Kurd and a Jew from Iraqi Kurdistan shortly after WWII, to the newly formed state of Israel where Kurds are looked down upon, to the United States. The book was extremely well written and takes the reader on Yona’s journey.

You do not need a book blowout in July - you did all of that in June! Congratulations!

21, that’s a lot of books. I was only able to get through 12 books this month.

Before anyone gets too impressed, remember that 7 of them are very short, two are young adult books, I participated (kind of) in the 24 Hour Read-Athon, and I specifically read a bunch of short, quick books in order to get extra reviews while I was gone. I doubt my page count is up all that much from last month, honestly.

Yeesh! I bet your graph looks great. :)

Yah, I could go until August 22nd without reading another book and still be on track to finish 100 between March and the end of December.

  8. Erin Says:

WOW, 21 books! That is awesome even if some were short. I read a pathetic 5.

I feel like a slacker looking at this list!!

Will you announce your wedding so we can all offer best wishes (or let us know when you’re back from the honeymoon)
