Interesting observation about “authors from former British colonies feeling disconnected from their mother country” and perhaps reflecting that through themes in their writing.

I really liked Spirit of the Place from LVF, and would like to read Monique and the Mango Rains, Feather Man, and American Genius.

This one sounds interesting to me because I work with the victims of childhood sexual abuse. I’d like to see how the book handles the issues I see every day.

Funny, I just heard from Literary Ventures Fund today asking if I wanted to review books. I had never heard of the group before. Have you had a good experience with them?

Hmm it is very odd to hear that description, considering a series I read has a main character named Sookie who was molested by her old uncle. Her parents were never close to her or understood her, and as a result Sookie grew up unable to connect emotionally with people….

Of course she also goes on to meet a bunch of vampires, wereanaimals and fairies, so I guess it is slightly different lol.
