Sunday Salon and Read-athon Wrap Up

For those of you Sunday Saloners who aren’t aware, I participated in Dewey’s read-athon yesterday.  Or, rather, I attempted to participate.  My cumulative actual time reading was only somewhere between 5 and 6 hours.  I managed to complete only about 340 pages, inluding two (very, very short) books:

I also got a fair amount listened to on my audio book of “The Three Musketeers”.  Unfortunately, this read-athon was just really bad timing for me.  Friday afternoon I returned home from an 8 day work event where I was doing childcare all day and not getting much sleep.  2 weeks from yesterday is my wedding.  My parents will be here on Thursday and are staying with me for the first few days.  So basically I had a ton of stuff to do and was exhausted.  I had to stop around 8 pm last night to do some other things and then I went to sleep around 11 and didn’t get up until after 9.  That will probably be the majority of my reading for the weekend, but I’m going to try to get some reviews written in the next couple of days of the 7 books I’ve read since I was last here.  I just need to be smart about putting them out, because I probably won’t get a whole lot more finished before the wedding!

Congrats on what you got done!! Hopefully the next read-a-thon will be better timing. 😀

  • (Golly – Eva has a faster PC than me – NOT that I’m in race with her or anything…)

CONGRATS on the upcoming nuptials and I am extremely impressed that you participated in this event tho you expected more than a few distractions in your weekend. WAY TO GO. It’s been fun to get to know everyone a little better.

  • Good luck with the final two weeks of preparations. Just remember to take deep breaths and enjoy the day! Congratulations on your progress with the reading challenge. I will donate $25 on your behalf today!

  • You did great! Now it’s time to get ready to get wed. :)

  • I can’t imagine trying to do what you’ve done with just two weeks left before your wedding. Congratulations! And, as Erin said, slow down now so you have some time to enjoy the next couple weeks, and then the wedding. Take care of yourself so you’re not exhausted when your wedding day comes around.

  • Well done! I can totally understand that this was not the right time for a readathon for you! I hope you’ll be able to participate next time as well. With this out of the way: good luck with the preparations for your wedding!

  • Oh my – two weeks before my wedding I would not have even attempted the read-a-thon!
