…any reading can be the inspiration to become a life long reader so cereal boxes can be a good place to start.

i guess books are like men (or women depending on your preference). you can’t explain why you like some but not others. and there is no use in judging other people’s choices. so viva la reading whether it is graphic novel or classic novel!

You can probably hear me cheering from the other side of the Atlantic. My teaching experience left me with exactly the same belief. If I could teach an eleven year old non-reader to read using his big brother’s motor cycle manual (given that he could already strip and service the bike) then that is precisely what I would do.
