I wasn’t disappointed in this one, either! It was a nice surprise, actually; I’ve had a bit of a streak of books I haven’t been thrilled with.

I read this when it was first released a couple of years ago and liked it a lot. I understand Gortner has made some changes/additions to the new version so I will probably try and read it at some point. I liked how he was able to take some of events from Juana’s life (that have caused history to label her as “mad” or “crazy”) and give a different interpretation to them that suggests she knew exactly what she was doing.
