it was the 2005 movie for me. i felt that there was something to this story that was more than the movie could offer, so i bought the book.

i am obsessed with regency novels at the moment, as far as my pocketmoney can take me, but so far i've never found anything that could match to p&p.

and if i may add, i've never read a man more dashing than mr darcy, imo.

i also just finished the 1995 series on youtube. everyone was right, it IS much better than the movie. colin firth is not as pretty as other actors but he as darcy had this half smile that made me fangirl all over the computer. ♥

i wanted the audiobook, so i downloaded it from librivox, but the girl who was reading it had this american accent which while not very heavy (minnesota, accd to gutenberg), was not very nice to hear either. plus the fact that she didn't read very well - kind of monotonous. i might not be the type of person who'd enjoy audiobooks though. <_<

I love Pride and Prejudice... yet, when I try to reread it, I find that I just go to the movies (BBC...love Colin Firth as Darcy) for my fix instead. I downloaded the mp3 of it, and have rediscovered my love of the novel...that, and it makes the treadmill a little more tolerable...but not much.

If you like P&P, there is a new series told from Darcy's perspective by Pamela Aidan that is really excellent. Check it out!
Can't wait to read more from you, Amie

This was one of my first audiobook experiences as well and completely hooked me! I love music, but sometimes while driving I need something else to listen to. This was perfect!

By contrast, I listened to the DaVinci Code while driving as well and the performer actually GAVE AWAY the big surprise by using the wrong accent for a character. At first I thought it was just an error until the "real" identity was revealed and I realized I already knew based on the performers chosen accent. Too funny.

If you're trying to decide what Librivox book to read next, I have several reviews at www.freelistens.blogspot.com . One of the first reviews I published was this same recording of Pride & Prejudice. I loved it!
